What looked to be an interesting concept, a guy waking up during surgery, turns out to be an incredibly muddled attempt at adding some spice to the story out of desperation – thinking that the subject material wasn’t enough for an engaging film.
Clay (Christensen) remains awake during open heart surgery, only to overhear a plot of an attempt on his life during the surgery. The little credit I can give the film lies in the extremely harrowing scene where you, together with Clay, realize that he is still awake, even though he is screaming, in his mind. Other than that I can simply not think of one redeeming factor in this film, the confused plotlines work out, but they simply don’t surprise or shock in the least, the actually disappoint more and more as the film progresses. And Jessica Alba’s hotness can also only take a film so far, as we all saw with the horribly awful Good Luck Chuck.
So here it is, really nothing more to write about here, apart from this warning – see this at your own peril.
